House Mouse Challenge No. 4 – On a Budget!!

With the economy in mind and the looming credit crunch we are all watching the £’s/$’s so we would like you to make a card (or whatever you choose to make) for less than £1/$2.

Your stamps and colouring pens/pencils are excluded from the price/budget but please remember to work out the cost for everything else:
card blank
any papers and card used
DST, glue etc (obviously this won’t be much so a small estimate is fine).

We don’t expect you all to work out an exact amount but try to be as honest as you can with your estimate.

       Happy "Fall"

Well, being the “Penny Pincher” that I am…my card cost about $0.35!! Yup. 🙂

The corrugated background paper is the padding from a picture frame I purchased, and the lovely coordinating card blank and paper the sentiment is stamped on is the back cardboard from a pad of paper! Cheap, huh? lol

The rest of it was about 35 cents…dew drops .02 each, cs .30 – only used half, ribbon and twine were about .07 and the glue, probably .05!

I didn’t even realize there was a mouse upside down in the pile of leaves until I started coloring!   These HM images just crack me up.  I laugh every time I see the look on the face of the little grey guy in the middle…sheer terror!   Talk about peer pressure   🙂

Recipe:   HM stamp by Stampabilities, called Don’t Leaf Without Me, stamped with Momento tuxedo black, colored with Copics, paper pieced sky DP into background; Sentiment is from Northwoods, stamped in Blueberry Blast by Scrappy Cat, heat embossed with clear EP; ribbon, twine and dew drops

  1. Goodness this is cute! I LOVE how you colored everything – it looks like a print! Just beautiful.

  2. This is such a delightfully fun card! Love your colors and the corrugated paper is brilliant!

  3. What a wonderful card! Incredible what one can make for a small budget (luckily we didn’t have to count our stamps, pencils,…!) 😉

  4. Another MASTERPIECE!!! I truly love to visit your blog, and see all the gorgeous pieces of art you create. As always, your coloring is impeccable! It is nice to know another “Penny Pincher”, and that I am not the only one who saves cardboard and other goodies most people discard. Maybe that is why I love these mousies so…because I am such a stampin’ packRAT (LOL!). Incredible card (on a budget or not)!!!

  5. This is the cutest stamp!! awesome coloring and perfect price for a budget 🙂 Sooo….how did you do the blue background behind the trellis on the stamp image?? awesome

  6. This is just so cheery and cute. I love your coloring and HM you used.

  7. Mary, your card is gorgeous! Your coloring is amazing – look at those leaves!! It was nice seeing you today!

  8. How cute is this 😀
    Great job!

  9. Nancy Stevens says:

I figure yours is the best, just because! However, have you noticed that the background of this whole HM Challenge thing is of your first card???!! I bet they like yours best too!! I just wish you had a little more confidence in yourself. Well, one of these days…you mark my words! 🙂

  10. WOW! This is just the cutest ever. Do you think I’m crazy for loving these mice as that I had them around my attic for a few days.

  11. Mary, this is so stinkin’ cute! Those little mice are the cutest, and way to go on the penny pinching design, too!
