One Last Snowman Tuesday

Welcome!   Time for one last Snowman card … well, in this instance – a set of cardz!    I’ve used the Snowball Set of 4 from I Brake For Stamps.

Each image has been embossed with black EP, I then VERY carefully added a bit of color with Copics and finally, lots of Star dust Stickles.   I’ve used various pieces of the new Basic Grey Jovial paper for each card and vellum for the Spellbinders Nestabilities Beaded Circles.    Here are some closeups to see all the sparkle.

These were super fun and easy for anyone looking for some last minute Christmas card mass production ideas!    If you are interested in this set or ANY stamps from I Brake For Stamps, be sure to used Coupon Code SAVE10MARY for a 10% discount off your entire purchase!

Since this is my last post as a DT member for I Brake For Stamps, I wanted to send a special Thank You to Della, the owner of IBFS ~ it’s been a true pleasure to work with her over the past year,  she’s a very generous and and caring person, who I’m glad to call my friend!

Pumpkin Torte ~ Yum-o!

Hi everyone!   As most of you know, my family and I celebrated Thanksgiving early ~ this past Saturday.   Yay, everything turned out well and there were no catastrophes in the kitchen!   🙂

Since we had our meal early, I was able to take a photo of my family’s (and guests’)  favorite Thanksgiving dessert.    I’ve actually been making this for over 30 YEARS — yep, I’m old!   hehehe   This goes way back to when I only needed to bring a dessert along to our family Thanksgiving gatherings … not prepare the entire meal!

It seriously is always a hit.  I’ve given the recipe out to just about everyone who has tried it.   Soooo, I wanted to share this with you.

I guarantee you and your guests will love it!!

 Pumpkin Torte

1 2/3 cups graham cracker crumbs, ½ cup sugar, 1/2 tsp. cinnamon, ½ cup butter ~ melted

Preheat oven to 350.    Mix graham cracker crumbs, sugar & cinnamon together.  Add butter, mix well and pat into a 9×12 pan – I use a small measuring cup to press it into the corners.  Set to side.

 First Layer:

2 large eggs, ¾ cup sugar,  2 pkgs. 8 oz cream cheese at room temp

Beat cream cheese until smooth.   Add eggs and sugar and mix until fluffy.   Put on top of crust and bake for 20 minutes.    Let cool.

 Second Layer:

1 lb. pumpkin (2 cups), 3 large egg yolks, ½ cup sugar, ½ cup milk, ½ tsp. salt, ½ tsp. cinnamon

Mix and cook pumpkin, egg yolks, sugar, milk, salt & cinnamon in a small pan over medium heat until thick and bubbling – about 5 minutes – stirring constantly.   Remove from heat.

1 envelope unflavored gelatin, ¼ cup cold water

In a small bowl, dissolve gelatin in water.   Add gelatin mixture to pumpkin mixture.   Mix well and let cool.

3 large egg whites, ¼ cup sugar

Beat egg whites and sugar until stiff.  Fold into cooled pumpkin mixture.  Pour into baked crust.  Let set in refrigerator for at least four hours or overnight.

1 pint heavy cream (2 cups), 6 Tablespoons confectioner’s sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla, Pumpkin Pie spice

Whip cream until soft peaks form, add sugar and vanilla.  Top Torte with whipped cream and sprinkle pumpkin pie spice on top.

Try it  ~  you’ll love it!   🙂

Sundays With Crissy ~ Red, Green & Gold

Don’t worry, it’s NOT Sunday yet!   The Sundays With Crissy challenge blog is now held on a monthly basis, and each DT member has an assigned day each month to post their card for that month’s challenge  ~  My day is the 19th!

This ADORABLE Little Christmas Angel by Crissy Armtrong for Whimsy Stamps is brand new this month and I just love her.  She’s a digi image and available for immediate download.

The DP is called Holiday Traditions by K&Co and actually shows bits and pieces of several recipes!   Since I thought the holly sprigs would match the holly in her hair and the colors were perfect for this challenge ~  I HAD to use it!   I was able to align her perfectly to avoid including any recipes!   yay.

I love the little bird she is holding.  To coordinate him with our theme, I’ve colored him to look somewhat like a baby cardinal.   The angel wings were embossed in my Cuttlebug and I then added a small amount of gold glitter.

So, I hope you will join us for this challenge.   All the details can be found at the Sundays With Crissy challenge blog.  We’ve got a great prize this month and you have until November 30th to join in.

Thank you for stopping by today!    I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

All That Scraps Challenge ~ Gift Card Holders

Happy Wednesday!    Our challenge at the All That Scraps Wednesday blog is Gift Card Holders.   Just in time for the holidays.   I think gift cards and cash are beginning to be the safest and most popular gifts.

Lesa from ATS sent us a link to this awesome tutorial for a very cool and SUPER easy gift card holder found HERE.

Note, in this tutorial, the author uses a Word Window punch, which I don’t have.   I’ve substituted a Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Four  (second largest die)  for my holder ~ it was a perfect fit!    Here’s an inside shot:

As I said – SUPER fast and easy!    This adorable new little angel is from C.C. Designs Sugarplums collection ~ Christmas Angel.   In my opinion, she seemed to be perfect in gold!   So, I used some gold EP and colored her with Copics.    (Black EP does NOT work with Copics – it tends to bleed.   But I didn’t have any problems with the gold.)

If you’d like some inspiration to join us for this challenge, be sure to check out the awesome Gift Card Holders from the always amazing All That Scraps Design Team.

Thanks for stopping by today!

An Award & Some blog candy

Hey everyone – Sorry about this, but I’m having to skip  Snowman Tuesday this week!   We’re having our family Thanksgiving dinner THIS SATURDAY and I have a TON of things to get done.    Hope you understand.

I do want to share an award I received from one of my most favorite stamping friends – Candy Mills.   She is truly the kindest person I’ve yet to meet in this wonderful card making world!    I am honored to call her my friend.

All the details on this award can be found HERE.  One of the rules is that you tell three unknown facts about yourself  …  hmmm.

How about –

1.)   We’re in the midst of trying to sell our house.  To help speed up the sale, I’ve buried a statue of St. Joseph in the yard!   Yep, you can read all about it here.

2.)    I have major environmental allergies and asthma ~ especially to CATS  (we only have two!).   Not too thrilling, but it definitely affects my life at times!  and

3.)   I love Thanksgiving!   As I mentioned above ~ this year, due to family schedules, we’re having our dinner this Saturday!!!  It’s my favorite meal to prepare and I tend to cook for an army!  So, if you don’t hear from me much this week, you’ll know why!   🙂

This award is centered around friendship!   Another rule is to pass it on to five blogging friends.  There are soooooooo many wonderful people who I’ve been so fortunate to meet that this is a tough one.    I’d love to give this award to everyone!

But, since I must choose five:

1.)  RENKATA – THE sweetest, most wonderful friend, who always takes the time to leave a comment to brighten my day!

2.)  BECKY – Another sweetie, who always shares her deep faith in God and helps to remind us of what’s really important in life!

3.)  VIRGINIA – owner of InStyle Stamps.  She’s truly one of the nicest people I’ve had the pleasure of working with.

4.)  (a team of ladies)  Vicki &  Carole from Chicago!  Two of the nicest ladies in the world!  They actually drove up from Chicago to color with me!   I felt like I had known them all my life!   Definite plans to do this again.   🙂

5.)  and last but definitely not least –Miss AMERICA!  She’s become one of my dearest friends in the world – both online and IRL!   And, she’s one of the latest Dirty Girls!!  How cool is that?!

I’d also like to share some awesome blog candy from Ann Vento of Raindrop Echo Designs!   You won’t want to miss this!!

Copic Creations Challenge ~ Shading & Paper Piecing

Monday already?!    The weather has been rather rainy and chilly these past few days, and adding Monday morning to that mix certainly does not make for an appealing day.   But, to help you through it, we have a new challenge at Copic Creations.   It’s an often forgotten step when doing paper piecing for your cardz and projects ~ Shading of your paper pieces.

Our sponsor this week is Tickled Pink Stamps.  Each DT member was given one of the digi Lil Lolita or Lil Lad images.   This one is called Lil Lolita – Ivy.   I really LOVE paper piecing, so this challenge was right up my alley!

These fun papers are from Yellow Bicycle ~ Love Letters ~ I really wanted to use something with pink and gray for this cutie.     The main paper piecing was done with the pink DP.   I’ve used my T1, 3 & 5 markers to add the shading.

{BIG yawn}   I won’t tell you what time it is right now as I’m typing this post, but MOST people have been asleep for a long time ~ So I have to cut this short and come back later in the day to add the supplies I’ve used for this card.   If you’re interested,  I hope you can stop back.    Thanks for understanding.

In the meantime, you really MUST hop over the Copic Creations Challenge blog to see the AWESOME cardz from the DT – pure gorgeousness!!    🙂

Bad hair day!! :)

heehee!    Don’t ya love it!?    This is my granddaughter Quinn (born in July).    She has this tuft of “baby” hair that refuses to lie flat – but is totally adorable!

I FINALLY finished my projects for the next Magnolia Ink magazine — sorry, no new cardz to share today.   Taking a minute to catch my breath and clean up my work area!       But, I wanted to share these adorable photos.

Here’s another which is an excellent reference for coloring rosy cheeks!     (Just a proud grandma here!)

Be back soon with a new card!

7 Kids College Fund & All That Scraps Challenges

7 Kids College Fund Challenge

Happy Wednesday!   Time for a new challenge at 7 Kids College Fund ~ Thank you cardz, brought to us by the extremely nice and VERY creative Julie of the Design Team.     This little cutie is from Magnolia, of course!   She’s the  sitting bridesmaid  from the Wedding Collection.

I’ve used my very last sheet of this (my all-time favorite) piece of DP from the Basic Grey porcelain collection … so sad!   This coming from a true craft product horder.    lol

I’m trying to keep this short since I have two cardz to share, but HAD to let you know what the AMAZING prize is for one very lucky participant of this challenge  . . .

A $75.00 Gift Certificate to 7 Kids College Fund

What perfect timing just before Christmas!

The reason for the LARGE prize is that Tab, the owner of 7KCF, wanted to thank everyone for their patience, understanding and well wishes after her 18 year old son was severely injured in a motorcycle accident on Halloween!   Fortunately, he’s recovering and doing much better . . . you can find the details HERE.

So, with such an easy challenge, you have NO reason NOT to join us!   Be sure to take a peek at the awesome Thank You cardz from the Design Team.

All That Scraps Challenge

Yay!   The totally amazing Amy Young has done it again!   She’s created four new fantastic images just in time for our new challenge this week at All That Scraps ~ Happy Birthday.     This adorable image is called Darby Cupcake.  (unfortunately, they are so new that I don’t find these stamps in the store yet.   I’ll be sure to update you when they are added.)

Can you tell I really enjoyed coloring this one?    I thought the green hair was perfect for this color combo.

Yes, I like dots!   I get it from my dear friend Sue Kment  – I hope she likes this one!    Please excuse the big glop of Stickles on the lightning bug’s light rays.   You know what they say – haste makes waste!   So true.    I’m being buried alive in Magnolia projects for the next Magnolia Ink!   Our deadline is Thursday, so I’m hoping to take a nice rest after that!   🙂

Be sure to pop over to the All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge blog to see all the wonderful creations from the always amazing DT AND the other three new images from Amy Young.

Happy Sunday!    Just a quickie today.   This is for the Tiddly Inks challenge this week ~ Color Me OlivePurple & Mustard.   I was really excited to use this gorgeous new images called Sollytude by Christy Croll.   (love that name!)

I love Yoga, but unfortunately, haven’t done it much in the last few years.  It’s definitely something on my “list” to do again at some point.   You may be familiar with the sentiment I’ve added ~ Namaste.   It is a Hindu greeting used in yoga practice and in some eastern countries, meaning  I bow to you or my soul bows to your soul.   The font used, from, is called Dragonwick.

The flower shape template that was used for this card is one that I’ve had on my computer for some time and am not sure where it is from ~ so I’m sorry to not be able to give credit to the originator.   If you’re interested, here’s the template for you to copy and resize:

I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend.    Tomorrow is House Mouse Monday, Yay!

The entire time I was coloring these two, I kept thinking “I can’t wait til Thanksgiving  ~ pumpkin pie time!”   🙂   I’ve said this before, but Thanksgiving is my all-time favorite holiday ~ LOTS of food, family & friends and NO gifts required!

This smiling cutie is another from the awesome selection of snowmen stamps at I Brake For Stamps.   He is Snowman #4 on their wonderfully revised site.
