Tiddly Inks Challenge ~ Manly Men

Today’s challenge at Tiddly Inks is to create a MASCULINE card or Father’s Day card.

I’ve used the image called SANDY MEMORIES, and thought this computer generated sentiment would make a great Father’s Day card …

A couple of years ago at my nephew’s wedding in New Jersey on the beach ~ all the bridesmaids wore gorgeous dresses in this teal color.    Since then, the color combo of teal & sand has always been one of my favorites and brings back memories of that beautiful wedding!

The flag was added using the end of a toothpick with a small piece of DP wrapped around it.  The sand castle was colored with Copics and then I applied some Ultra Fine Flower Soft in sand.   Here’s a quick closeup of that …

So, I hope you can pop over to the Tiddly Inks challenge blog to check out the other MANLY MEN cards from the awesome Design Team, and of course, be inspired to join us for this challenge.

Thanks for your visit today.

[Oops!   I had prescheduled this to post and was planning to go back and add a little “chit-chat about it” and totally forgot!!     I’m so sorry for anyone who visited earlier and wondered what happened.]

This sweet little girl is from a stamp set called Moments In Time … by Flower Soft, now available at 7 Kids College Fund.    I pretty much followed the colored image that came with with the set since I thought these colors worked really well.    So, I can’t take much credit for this.

Since the stamp is from Flower Soft, I thought I HAD to add some to the card – so there is just a bit Shamrock Green FS on the grass!     7KCF now has the Ultra-Fine Flower Soft in stock, which looks pretty cool!   ~  I’ll have to order some and let you know all about it!

 Here’s the full card …

I followed this tutorial for making my MS edge punch fit the oval shape and just LOVE this idea – VERY easy!   🙂  The dp is from an older Basic Grey collection called Perhaps.

I also added LOTS of teeny, tiny 3mm brads from Bazzill.   My good friend Pam asked Tab from 7KCF if she would carry these in the store and she has obliged!    You can find these in lots of colors.    I think I may have gone a bit overboard with the brads on this card, but I had fun!

The sentiment is also from the Moments in Time stamp set  and I just love it!

Thanks for visiting and for all your wonderful comments  ~  They truly are my inspiration!

It’s a Flower Soft Christmas!

DSC_6941a

Have I mentioned lately how much I LOVE Flower Soft??!    No?   Well, I do!     I thought these Flower Soft  pre-printed Christmas images  would be perfect for those who need to make mass-produced cardz this year.   They really are soooo easy!   This one is called  Christmas Traditional Door, and comes in a pack of six, three white doors and three green doors.   Flower Soft also makes little Vintage Christmas Taglets  (such a cute name!)  to add a sentiment to your card.

DSC_6943a

I used four Flower Soft colors ~ Christmas Green, Shamrock Green, Poppy Red & Ivory.    The two topiaries are covered in a mixture of  both greens and a little Ivory;  The wreath, and holly on the sentiment are a mixture of all four colors; And, the snow is ivory only, with some icicle  Stickles  to make it look as if  it were glistening.   I added some small red bows to the wreath and topiaries.  Several people have asked if you really  need to use the Flower Soft Glue ~ I do highly recommend it for this type of project, when you are adding FS in several places ~  it dries VERY quickly and is not runny like several other glues.

I know it’s a little early to start thinking of snow and Christmas cards, but once the holiday season is upon us, things tend to get pretty busy for everyone.   It’s kind of nice sitting in the air conditioned house making Christmas cardz!     🙂      All of these products are available for pre-order at 7 Kids College Fund.     Better get em before they’re gone!

I’ve been working on another card from the Lazy Summer Days Magnolia  collection (also available for pre-order at 7 Kids)  that I will be editing and posting  later today.  Hope you are able to stop back .    Here’s a litle peek!

It’s PTI Blog Hop time!

 bloghoplogo

Yay!   I am FINALLY able to participate in this months Papertrey Ink Blog Hop.  I love to visit everyone’s blogs to see the awesome designs all the very talented participants create.   Here’s the scoop for this month, directly from Nicole Heady of PTI:

“This month your challenge is to get inspired by the lazy days of summer and reflect your inspiration in a project of your choice!  Whether it be the colors in your favorite summer treats, the pattern on your bathing suit & beach towel or even the texture of the sand between your toes, use any or all of these things as a springboard for your design.  Please be sure to share an image found online, in a magazine or a photo you have taken yourself that communicates your point of inspiration within the body of your blog post!”

My VERY favorite part of summer is FLOWERS … in every size, shape and color of the rainbow!   I especially love homes with window boxes, they just add so much beauty and character to a house.  I’ve gathered several photographs from the internet of various gorgeous window flower boxes used for my inspiration.

If friends were flowers …

…  I’d probably cover them in Flower Soft!!!     🙂        I just can’t get enough of this stuff!     I FINALLY had a chance to use the new Wisteria paper from Basic Grey…every piece is so gorgeous!   I thought this background piece matched perfectly with this adorable Magnolia image ~ Tilda Picking Lilacs, from the Chasing Butterflies Collection.

Tilda with Lilacs

Tilda picking Lilacs

The blue Flower Soft color I had planned to use for this card was just a little too blue compared to the DP and Tilda’s dress, so I combined two colors ~ Baby Blue and Lavender to make it a little less “blue”.  I also used Ivory Flower Soft to again match the DP.

I'd pick you

Thank you for dropping in today.  Hope your day is going well!

Copics Creations Challenge ~ Wood

It’s hard to believe it’s the middle of June already!!   Why do the summer months go by so much quicker than the winter months?   The 15th of the month means ANOTHER Copic Creations’ challenge.  Our challenge this time is coloring WOOD.

My secret garden

My secret garden

I’ve always loved books and movies that portray “secret gardens”….they always seem so magical!   So, when I found this Flower Soft stamp at my LSS calledThe Gate ~ I knew I HAD to have it.   The stamp set comes in separate pieces for EACH item shown, so you have lots of options and variety in creating a garden gate scene.   As a matter of fact, do you know what the three little birds are watching?!   🙂

I added lots of my favorite embellishment to this card ~  Flower Soft,  in Violet, Heather, Fuchsia, Bright Pink & Sunshine Yellow.   I did control myself by not adding EVERY color available!   🙂

Flower Soft

Flower Soft

Hello!  I recently had the opportunity to “play” with a new product called Flower Soft, now available from 7 Kids College Fund ~ my FAVORITE place to shop!

Wow, what fun!   It’s really pretty easy to use ~  Normally, I’m not too crazy about any product involving glue…for some reason, glue and I don’t get along!!

I do have ONE bit of advice for you ~  be sure to have ALL your supplies/tools READY… for instance, don’t put the glue on your project and THEN go upstairs for a small bowl and spoon!   Take my word for it…by the time you return, your glue WILL be dry!!   😀    I discovered, however, this can be a “Good Thing”, as Martha would say!

Happy Easter

Happy Easter

I was VERY impressed with the Flower Soft products….in particular, the Flower Soft Glue ~  It’s truly amazing stuff!!   Since I had it out, I decided to use it to adhere the yellow dew drops on the card base and the bow on the main image…WOW!   Normally, whatever glue I’ve tried (and believe me, I’ve tried ’em all) it takes quite awhile before you can actually hold the card up to view it.   Well, with the Flower Soft glue, you can hold your card up to view almost immediately!!  AND, no messy glue all over your fingers or work area!!  I was VERY impressed!   I think this will be one of my new favorite must-haves!   (Is that a word?)

I hope you’ll give it a try… I highly recommend it!   Now available at 7 Kids College Fund!   🙂
