For a special little girl . . .

Hello!   It’s been a crazy couple of weeks with tons of challenges, so the other day I needed to take a break and just color something “cuz I wanted to”!    So, I pulled out this Sarah Kay image that I’ve had for quite awhile and hadn’t even seen ink yet!   She’s called Picnic Time by Sarah Kay from Stampavie and in stock & available at 7KCF.    I think Sarah Kay images will always be some of my very favorite.

I also can’t stop using the Basic Grey olivia papers!   I just love all the colors in this collection – a perfect name too.   My sweet granddaughter, Elia, who lives in Florida recently turned two years old, so I thought this cutie would be just right for her.

Thanks for visiting today, on this nice and quiet – NO CHALLENGE Thursday!

Supplies Used:

Dreaming of Spring!

I seem to go in streaks with the stamps I use for my cardz!    Here’s another Sarah Kay image called Isabelle with Puppy Coco, from Stampavie ~ now available for preorder at 7 Kids College Fund.   I thought this would be a good card to remind myself that SOME DAY Spring will be back!    I’m just soooo over winter and everything related to it!

Sorry I’ve been MIA lately, I’ve had a cold/flu/sinus infection for about a month now and just can’t seem to get rid of it.   Been sleeping A LOT.   If you’ve sent me an email recently, I promise to respond VERY soon.  I’m just beginning to un-bury my mailbox!

I don’t do blue cards very often, but have had this DP in my stash for a long time and thought I would pull it out for this card.   It’s actually embossed paper and very cool IRL.  It’s from K&Company – Blue Awning Blue Floral.   I used a MS lace edge punch and Spellbinders Nestabilities oval and scalloped oval for the mat.   I ended up not having a scalloped die large enough for the oval, so I cut out TWO and just overlapped them.

But, don’t you just love that ribbon?   I, unfortunately, am not certain where it is from – but I will be on the lookout for more!      Here’s a quick closeup of the bow made with this embroidered ribbon …

Well, besides being behind in emails, I’m also behind in several projects!!   So, I’m off to try to play catchup.    Hope you’re all doing well and just as ready for Spring as I am!

Can I tell you a Secret?

Well, I’ve finally jumped on the Shabby Chic band wagon!  lol   I thought it would be perfect for this awesome Stampavie image by Sarah KayCan I Tell You a Secret.    AND, since I now have a shiny, brand new Tim Holtz Paper Distressing Tool, it was soooo easy!!   Yay.  (really saves on stress to the ole’ finger nails!)

I also used LOTS of Distress Inks –  BTW, have you heard they released some NEW Distress Ink colors?!    I’m super excited about this and verified with Tab at 7 Kids that she WILL be carrying these in the store.   I’ll keep you posted.

The main image was colored with Copics  (listed below) and highlighted on the edges with Vintage Photo and my new tool.  The DP is from the Basic Grey origins 6×6 pad.   I added a small heart doily that was distressed with Old Photo and a little Antique Paper inks.   The primas and Tim Holtz Adage Ticket sentiment were also distress with Vintage Photo ink and that same fun tool!

It was so nice to work on a card that was SUPPOSED to be distressed!   This technique seems to happen to my cards often even when I’m not trying.    🙂

Noel from Sarah Kay

I can’t believe how many angel cards I have done recently!   I do believe I’ve found a new hobby  …   collecting angel stamps.    🙂    This adorable little angel is from Stampavie by Sarah Kay, 2009 Noel Collection, called Noel Peace.

I used my new Pilot Gold Marker extra fine point paint pen on her halo, wings, star and the bottom of the curtain (from my dear friend America)  and added some Golden Rod Stickles also.

I tried to color the curtain to look like velvet, but red is such a hard color for me to show highlights, so I added some red velvet ribbon to the bottom of the card hoping it would make it look a little more authentic.    The sentiment is from the Papertrey Ink 2008 Holiday Tag Collection.    The paper is from Graphic 45.  (love  it!)

Thanks for visiting today!     Hope your week is going well.

A “Goodnight” kiss

kiss goodnight

As soon as I saw this Sarah Kay,  Stampavie image from 7 Kids College Fund, I was completely reminded of my beautiful granddaughters!  Hailee, Joydynn , Anna and even Elia….the newest who is only 9 months old ~

Elia ~ 9 months!

Elia ~ 9 months! (Helping make banana bread)

Talk about having fun!?!  (She gets this from her grandma!)  In this picture, Elia was helping her Mommy make banana bread ~ She had a pan of flour to play with!??    hmmmm….sounds pretty messy to grandma!

Just a quick side-note, my DD, Jennifer, has started a blog (not for cards) about the trials and tribulations of being a SAHM of FOUR kids…in addition to  homeschooling them!!   Whoa….DD does NOT get this from her mom!

If you have few minutes, please stop by and say hello (I’ve been her only, lonely visitor for a week now!!)  LOL  I’m VERY proud of her, she’s quite gifted in her ability to tell stories and live her life by her faith and trust in God.  Hope you can say hello!  🙂

So, back to my card!   I totally fell in love with this Sarah Kay image …

Awwww....

Awwww....

Always kiss me goodnight!

Thanks for listening to me go on about my adorable granddaughters and amazing daughter!

Happy Wednesday….we’re getting closer to the weekend!  🙂

I was sooo happy with the image itself….however, really had issues the way I put it into card form ~ AGAIN!!   As a matter of fact, I took most of the embellishments off and started another card with the image and base!!  Yep, I think somebody needs a vacation!   🙂

Here’s one version:

I think I’ve discovered ANOTHER addiction ~ Sarah Kay images!!

Sarah Kay

Sarah Kay

It’s amazing how the small things on cards really make me happy.   If you look REAL close – nose to the screen close – you’ll see that her shirt matches a small section of the DP!!  AND, the brad in the center of the prima matches one of the flowers on the DP!!   😀    I guess it IS the “simple” joys that matter!    So, this card must be for me!  lol

Precious Moments

Precious Moments

I even pulled out the old sewing machine for this one.  Unfortunately, I still need lots of practice at straight lines  🙂

The image, Precious Moments, by Sarah Kay, has been colored with my beloved Copics and the DP is from the Basic Grey urban prairie 6×6 paper pad ~ all of which can be found at…yep, you guessed it  ~  7 Kids College Fund

Thanks so much for stopping by….have a great day!   🙂

A Kiss for Chloe

A kiss

A kiss

Good morning!   This stamp is called A Kiss For Chloe designed by Sarah Kay from Stampavie, and available at  7 Kids College Fund .   The image has been colored with Copics and mounted on Basic Grey Euphoria paper.   I’m trying to not do ALL house mouse cards and thought this might be a nice change!

Be Mine

Be Mine

For those of you who are contemplating the leap to Copics, I highly recommend it.  Marianne Walker, from Copics, has an awesome blog with a myriad of information on using the markers.  You’ll find that ALOT of Marianne’s work is done on Neenah cardstock.  This brand really is my all-time favorite for coloring with Copics…the markers seem to glide like buttah  ~  it’s pretty amazing stuff.   Since Marianne had recommended this cardstock, I began searching the internet for it; 7 Kids was the first place I found that actually carried it AND at a great price  ~ if you are interested in trying it out!

Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have ANY questions at all about the cards, Copics, materials, etc.   Hope you have a great day and thanks so much for stopping by today!  🙂
