7 Kids College Fund ~ Challenge Yourself!

Post No. 2 of THREE for today!!    My All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge card can be found HERE.

This card is for our 7 Kids College Fund Challenge ~ CHALLENGE YOURSELF.    That’s a new one!    The best I could come up with, due to my overlapping project deadline, is to make a tent card.   I’ve seen several of these, but they looked a little too complicated for me.    Turns out after making this one, I love em, thanks to this GREAT tutorial over at Splitcoast Stampers!

And, here’s a quick side view . . .

This cutie is from Stampavie, by Gillian F.  Roberts, called Teddy and Me.

I’m really hoping to be back later today to add more info on this card.   If you’re interested in anything specific, please don’t hesitate to contact me before I get the details added.

I hope you have a minute to stop over to the 7 Kids College Fund challenge blog to see all the CHALLENGES presented by the awesome design team.

Thanks for stopping in today … I’ll be back later today with a new Sundays With Crissy challenge card!

For a special little girl . . .

Hello!   It’s been a crazy couple of weeks with tons of challenges, so the other day I needed to take a break and just color something “cuz I wanted to”!    So, I pulled out this Sarah Kay image that I’ve had for quite awhile and hadn’t even seen ink yet!   She’s called Picnic Time by Sarah Kay from Stampavie and in stock & available at 7KCF.    I think Sarah Kay images will always be some of my very favorite.

I also can’t stop using the Basic Grey olivia papers!   I just love all the colors in this collection – a perfect name too.   My sweet granddaughter, Elia, who lives in Florida recently turned two years old, so I thought this cutie would be just right for her.

Thanks for visiting today, on this nice and quiet – NO CHALLENGE Thursday!

Kickin’ it for Michelle!

Hi again!    I wanted to get this card posted asap   …   it’s for a special card drive for the very sweet Michelle Oatman.   As many of you probably know, Michelle had an accident about two weeks ago which has left her with the loss of her right eye and a long road of recovery ahead.

In an effort to cheer her up and raise awareness for what happened to Michelle, A Spoonful of Sugar is holding a card drive in her honor.   They have many generous companies and individuals helping with this special card drive . . . all the details can be found here

Michelle and her hubby love and raise miniature donkeys  ~ her blog is filled with news of all the exciting events at the farm.   So, Tina Wenke created this adorable little donkey (shown above)  in honor of Michelle ~ which is being distributed through Stampavie.    Two of Whimsy Stamps’ artists, Melissa Jenkins and Ann Vento, have teamed together to bring another very special donkey image and matching sentiments, these are both available to download for free from the Whimsy Stamps store page.

This cutie has been colored with Copics ~ the DP is from the BG kioshi 6×6 paper pad.     Can’t wait to get this in the mail to Michelle!     Thanks for stopping in again today!

Copic Creations ~ “Other” Paper

Yay.  Time for a new Copic Creations challenge!    This week we are featuring coloring on “other” papers with Copics.   Quite the challenge indeed!    I used coldpress watercolor paper for this image.    I love the texture of watercolor paper, unfortunately, it does soak up ALOT of your Copic ink ~ although blending is VERY smooth on this type of paper.

This gorgeous image is from our SUPER sponsor for this challenge, Stampavie.    The image is called Bernadette Admiring the Spring Flowers.   I thought the sentiment from PTI was perfect since, as you can see, there are two tiny bees buzzing about!   🙂

The DP is from the Basic Grey kioshi 6×6 paper pad.   I’ve used Spellbinders Nestabilities Large Deckled Rectangles and Ribbon Tag Trios 2 dies for this card.  The pearl flower sticker accent is from Zva Creative ~ Long Flourish Pearls, which I’ve cut and applied to each side.   The sentiment is from my favorite PTI set ~ Flower Garden Sentiments.

I hope you will join us for this challenge ~  all the details and the ALWAYS awesome Design Team creations can be found on the Copic Creations Challenge blog!

Dreaming of Spring!

I seem to go in streaks with the stamps I use for my cardz!    Here’s another Sarah Kay image called Isabelle with Puppy Coco, from Stampavie ~ now available for preorder at 7 Kids College Fund.   I thought this would be a good card to remind myself that SOME DAY Spring will be back!    I’m just soooo over winter and everything related to it!

Sorry I’ve been MIA lately, I’ve had a cold/flu/sinus infection for about a month now and just can’t seem to get rid of it.   Been sleeping A LOT.   If you’ve sent me an email recently, I promise to respond VERY soon.  I’m just beginning to un-bury my mailbox!

I don’t do blue cards very often, but have had this DP in my stash for a long time and thought I would pull it out for this card.   It’s actually embossed paper and very cool IRL.  It’s from K&Company – Blue Awning Blue Floral.   I used a MS lace edge punch and Spellbinders Nestabilities oval and scalloped oval for the mat.   I ended up not having a scalloped die large enough for the oval, so I cut out TWO and just overlapped them.

But, don’t you just love that ribbon?   I, unfortunately, am not certain where it is from – but I will be on the lookout for more!      Here’s a quick closeup of the bow made with this embroidered ribbon …

Well, besides being behind in emails, I’m also behind in several projects!!   So, I’m off to try to play catchup.    Hope you’re all doing well and just as ready for Spring as I am!

Can I tell you a Secret?

Well, I’ve finally jumped on the Shabby Chic band wagon!  lol   I thought it would be perfect for this awesome Stampavie image by Sarah KayCan I Tell You a Secret.    AND, since I now have a shiny, brand new Tim Holtz Paper Distressing Tool, it was soooo easy!!   Yay.  (really saves on stress to the ole’ finger nails!)

I also used LOTS of Distress Inks –  BTW, have you heard they released some NEW Distress Ink colors?!    I’m super excited about this and verified with Tab at 7 Kids that she WILL be carrying these in the store.   I’ll keep you posted.

The main image was colored with Copics  (listed below) and highlighted on the edges with Vintage Photo and my new tool.  The DP is from the Basic Grey origins 6×6 pad.   I added a small heart doily that was distressed with Old Photo and a little Antique Paper inks.   The primas and Tim Holtz Adage Ticket sentiment were also distress with Vintage Photo ink and that same fun tool!

It was so nice to work on a card that was SUPPOSED to be distressed!   This technique seems to happen to my cards often even when I’m not trying.    🙂

A happy hello & happy Thanksgiving!

Just a quickie today!   I wanted to be sure to wish you all a happy Thanksgiving – for those in the USA  ~   Hope you enjoy your day with family and friends.    I know I’m VERY thankful for all of you on this Thanksgiving Day!

This is another from the Stampavie Gillian F. Roberts  holiday collection called Snowman.  (In stock at 7 Kids College Fund!)    I really hope they are planning to release some non-holiday images from Mr. Roberts – I just love his artwork!

I really like to make cardz with brown kraft cardstock, and to color the white parts with some Smooch Moonlight pearlized paint – the brown paper really seems to make the white paint pop.   I did one quite awhile ago that can be found here.

I’ve also added some Smooch in Green Aapple   to the tree and some Siren Smooch to the santa hat.   Both scarves were stamped on white cardstock, cut out and attached to the kraft paper image.   The DP is from the Basic Grey wassail 6×6 pad …. it’s so “last year”!    😀

Thanks for visiting today ~ Happy turkey and pumpkin pie day!

Noel from Sarah Kay

I can’t believe how many angel cards I have done recently!   I do believe I’ve found a new hobby  …   collecting angel stamps.    🙂    This adorable little angel is from Stampavie by Sarah Kay, 2009 Noel Collection, called Noel Peace.

I used my new Pilot Gold Marker extra fine point paint pen on her halo, wings, star and the bottom of the curtain (from my dear friend America)  and added some Golden Rod Stickles also.

I tried to color the curtain to look like velvet, but red is such a hard color for me to show highlights, so I added some red velvet ribbon to the bottom of the card hoping it would make it look a little more authentic.    The sentiment is from the Papertrey Ink 2008 Holiday Tag Collection.    The paper is from Graphic 45.  (love  it!)

Thanks for visiting today!     Hope your week is going well.

Just for YOU!

DSC_9166a

Hello!   Yep, it’s ANOTHER Stampavie image by Gillian Roberts!   This little guy is Penguin and Tree.    My card design is for the Stampavie Sketch Challenge.    Here’s the fun Sketch we were to follow …  I flipped it for my card.

And, my VERY pink card!

DSC_9164a

This really was a fun sketch to work with!   Thanks Jay Jay!

The DP is from the Basic Grey eskimo kisses 6×6 paper pad.  Mr. Penguin is colored with Copics and I added some Polar White Flower Soft to his hat and the snow on the ground.   I also added some Diamond Glaze to make each ornament shiny, along with Stickles in sequins to the star.  I used several Spellbinders Nestabilities dies on this card …  Oval for the main image and sentiment, Labels Six behind the main image, and the small Lattice Pendant  for the sides of the main image.   I also used Snowflake #2 Cuttlebug die for the two small snowflakes and 2008 MS Collectible Snowflake punch for the two large snowflakes.   Phew!!

Thanks for visiting!

Joy to the world

DSC_9143a

This adorable little angel is another from Stampavie by Gillian F. Roberts.   All the stamps from this collection are so cute!  This one is called Nativity 3  and it’s in stock and available at 7 Kids College Fund

DSC_9138a

I added some iridescent frilly string from my stash for her halo, some Crystal Stickles to her wings, and a sparkly snowflake ~  So, I wanted to add some iridescent sparkle to the ribbon, but really wanted to use this blue ribbon that matched the dp from My Mind’s Eye perfectly – So, I combined two ribbons!

I’ve been asked how I do the ribbon treatment when I have two ribbons.   It’s pretty easy, I just run some Permanent Mono Adhesive Dots from Tombow along the center of the darker color ribbon and attach the metallic/iridescent ribbon to it – the two ribbons stay together really well, even during my tugging and pulling to form a bow!    🙂

The sentiment is from the PTI Silent Night set and has been embossed with Super Fine Detail Clear Embossing Powder.

DSC_9141a

The image was colored with Copics, but unfortunately, I colored it quite awhile ago and CANNOT find my notes!!   It’s definitely time to do some organizing in my crafting area!!

Thanks for stopping by today – Hope you’re having a great week!

For the “love birds” & Blog Candy

DSC_8564a

(Sorry this turned out to be such a lonnnnnnnnngggggggg post!!   Too much to say!!)

Surprise, surprise!  Another from the Gillian Roberts  collection by Stampavie, now in stock at 7 Kids College Fund!   Yes, I know, I have a problem.   lol    I thought these two little birds would be perfect for a special card for any newlyweds on their first Christmas.   This stamp is actually named Robins…  yep, I did it again and colored them as love birds!

I tried to color them to resemble the colors of actual love birds  …   lovebird

Thought it would be fun to add some pink and blue Stickles (Cotton Candy & Faded Jeans) to their stockings ~ kind of like his and her towels!!   🙂

DSC_8561a

I also added some Green Apple Smooch pearlized paint to their tail feathers for a little bit of bling.  The dp used is from the older Basic Grey Figgy Pudding collection.  The sentiment tag is from the Spellbinders Shapeabilities set Ribbon Tag Trio 2.

And, the gorgeous little heart is from my dear friend America of the HMDT.   A group of us on the HMDT were being “Secret Sisters” for the month of September ~ Each week we would send a card we made to our Sister, and on the final week a surprise gift package with lots of goodies!   Well, Ms. America  sent an unbelieveable package with sooooooooooooooo many awesome gifts – I was totally floored!!     It felt like Christmas in September!!  Here are a few pictures of my amazing surprise package:
