All That Scraps Challenge ~ Magnets

hehehe …  I must say, these adorable Angel Emma stamps from C.C. Designs (last year) will always be some of my very favorite Emma images.    So, I thought it would be fun to use them for holiday magnets.    Seems people decorate every inch of their home for the holidays ~ so why not the refrigerator too!?   🙂

Yep, our challenge this week is to make MAGNETS ~ a definite challenge for me!  But, as soon as I saw it on the list,  I went right to one of my favorite blogs to visit for inspiration ~ Rachel Schneider.    Awhile back she showed several magnets using Tim Holtz’ fragments and I thought that was such a great idea!    If you’re interested, you can find her post HERE.

I think having the plastic Tim Holtz fragment piece over the image caused the closeup photos to be a little fuzzy … but, I wanted to show you each cutie up close!   I apologize for the bad photos ~ they really don’t appear quite so bad in-person.   🙂

One blonde, one brunette and a redhead!   Their dresses, wings and instruments were paper pieced using some fun glitter paper.   Eeek, talk about fussy cutting!!   I notice in the photos,  the plastic fragment pieces don’t seem to be too straight ~ why is it these things are always so magnified in a photo (similar to that extra 10 pounds!!)?   Please keep in mind, each angel is 1.5 inches … so this was quite a small palette to work with!   Thank goodness for my bifocals!!   🙂

All That Scraps Challenge

And, of course, Wednesday also means a new challenge at All That Scraps.   This week Lesa challenged us to creat some type of Fall decoration.    This was my first attempt at rubber stamping on a candle!    It’s definitely much easier than you would think!    I followed this very helpful tutorial over at Splitcoast Stampers.   And, believe me – if I can do it … anyone can!    What a great idea with the upcoming holidays . . . hmmmmmmmm.

I used the C.C. Designs Swiss Pixies Fall Scene, colored with Copics for my candle.   Unfortunately, when coloring on the tissue paper, it’s a little hard to get much shading since the ink really soaks in quickly.

I also wanted to share the super simple little “doily”  for under the candle that I made using the largest die from the new Spellbinders Nestabilities  Beaded Circles Decorative Elements  dies . . .

It turned out to be the perfect size to match my candle!   I was thinking some silver or gold metallic cardstock would be pretty for a Christmas candle, or some wool felt would be nice too.    Eeeek … guess Santa will be busy making LOTS of candles this year!   LOL

So be sure to hop over to the All That Scraps Challenge blog  to see some awesome Fall themed decorations from the always amazing Design Team.

Thanks for visiting today!

Our challenge this week at All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge is LACE.    Adding lace to cardz is definitely a very popular trend right now.  I’ve used the adorable C.C. Designs digi Swiss Pixies Gretel for my card.

My lace is actually a sticker!   It’s by Jolee’s Boutique ~ embroidered 3D sticker border.   Super easy!!    So, be sure to pop over to the All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge blog to take a peek at all the awesome lacey cardz from the fabulous Design Team!    I know you’ll be inspired to join us for this challenge.

All That Scraps Challenge ~ Crinkled Ribbon

Happy Wednesday!   Sorry for the lack of posts the past few days, we’re working on the next Magnolia Ink magazine . . . the Christmas edition ~ it’s sooo hard to be working on Christmas projects when it’s 90 degrees outside!   🙂

Our challenge today at the All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge blog is to add some Crinkled Ribbon to your card or project.   This type of ribbon seems to be all the rage right now, especially on vintage and shabby chic projects.

I googled Crinkled Ribbon and found lots of tutorials on how to dye and “crinkle” ribbon yourself.   Apparently, it works best with a rayon material ribbon generally used for seam binding.    Here’s one link if you’d like to take a peek  Crinkled Ribbon Tutorial.    But NO, I did NOT make my own … I cheated and used some rose ribbon from American Crafts that I HAD to have awhile ago, but hadn’t used yet!!      (Yes, I think the term “hoarder” is appropriate here!)

For my card, I’ve used the adorable Rose Emma from the Take a Seat collection from C.C. Designs.   She’s actually sitting on a flourish(ey) stamped image from the Tim Holtz  Stampers Anonymous Nature’s Discovery set .

So, I hope you can join us for this challenge ~  all the details can be found on the All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge blog . . . while you’re there, I know you’ll be SUPER inspired by the always amazing projects from the Design Team!

Thanks for stopping by today.   I hope you’re having a good week!

Supplies Used:

All That Scraps Challenge ~ Die Cuts

Yep, it’s Wednesday already!   And that means it’s time for a new challenge at All That Scraps.   This week, we are using Die Cuts.   I’ve used Tim Holtz’ elegant flourishes die cuts on my card.   This cute little witch is from the C.C. Designs August Swiss Pixies release, called Halloween Birgitta.

All of the die cuts and the spider webs on Birgitta have been heat embossed with LOTS of black opal embossing powder . . . even the little spider attached to her hat!     Let’s just say I’m still cleaning up black opal EP from my work area!   LOL    I was also excited to have some of these cool spider brads from Making Memories left over from last year  (lower right corner).

The flower was cut with an older Cuttlebug flower die … covered with EP and a rhinestone attached to the middle.   The sentiment and spider web were preprinted on the My Mind’s Eye DP.

Sooooooooo, I hope you have time to hop over to the All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge blog to take a peek at the awesome Die Cut creations from the very talented Design Team.    You will also find all the details on how to join us for this fun challenge and be eligible for a chance to win this week’s prize!

Thanks for stopping in today ~ hope your week is going well!

All That Scraps Challenge ~ Color Combo

Yes, it’s Wednesday already!!   This summer seems to be just flying by … sure wish the winter went this fast!    Our challenge this week at All That Scraps is a color combination of Caribbean Blue, Pink and Celery.   I think my pink is a bit more coral, but coral is a shade of pink … right???    Phew, good!   LOL

This adorable little cutie is one of the new images for June from C.C. Designs called Honey Summer and I just think she’s the cutest sitting on her inner tube throwing a big ole’ kiss to you!    C.C. Designs has some coordinating Summer Sentiments that are perfect for their new summer images.  Unfortunately, I didn’t get mine in time for this card, so the “Mwah” is computer generated.   She’s been colored with Copics, cut out and attached with dimensionals.  I used some of my Ultra Thick Embossing Powder from last week’s challenge on her inner tube to give it a little shine, which doesn’t seem to show too well in the photo.

Be sure to stop over at the All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge blog to see all the gorgeous challenge cards from the Design Team.  I hope you will be inspired to join us for this challenge!

All That Scraps Challenge ~ Cracked Glass

It’s that time again!   Time for a new challenge at All That Scraps.  Our challenge this week is the cracked glass technique … something I had never tried before and wasn’t too sure about it.    But, I must admit after giving it a try, I love it!!     Gina K Designs has an awesome video tutorial that includes putting your finished piece into the freezer, which I think, allows more control over where your “glass” cracks.

This image is from the C.C. Designs Sweet November collection ~ Darby & Penelope.   I’ve added some heavy jute twine and large eyelets to make it look like they are sitting on a swing together . . . not too sure it comes across that way!

I added LOTS of layers of clear Ultra Thick Embossing Powder after coloring these cuties with Copics.  I was unsure how the EP might affect the Copic ink, but I was relieved to find that it didn’t do a thing!   Phew.   After bending the image for the cracked effect, I didn’t care too much for the cracks going over their faces, so I quickly took my heat gun and went over just that area to re-melt it, trying NOT to hit the other areas.   I then went over the cracks with some Distress Ink in Vintage Photo, as shown in Gina’s video.

The dp is from the Basic Grey Max & Whiskers 6×6 paper pad, which actually has some cool papers that aren’t necessarily for dogs or cats!  The sentiment is from my favorite “go to” company for their awesome sayings – PTI; which has also been given the “cracked glass” treatment!   I used Spellbinders Nestabilites Labels 2, Large Petite Ovals and the new Large Mega Scalloped Ovals on this card.  And added a ribbon bow from my stash.

You really should give this challenge a try, you’ll find that it’s actually fun!   For some great inspiration to join us, be sure to pop over to the All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge blog to see all the awesome projects from the DT.

Hope you’re having a good week!

All That Scraps Challenge ~ A Sketch

Yay!   Yep, it’s Wednesday again!!   You know what that means . . . a new challenge at All That Scraps, my favorite place for total cuteness.    Our challenge this week was a SKETCH designed by my old House Mouse buddy,  the Sketch MasterJanneke!

I’ve been sooo addicted to the Monochrome technique using Copic markers, that I just HAD to do another!   This adorable image is from the May release C.C. Designs collection ~ Swiss Sweater Birgitta.   Isn’t she just the cutest?!   I also added the digi sentiment ~ Swiss Thinking of You.

I can’t even tell you how much I LOVE this coloring technique!    For this one, I’ve used Copic markers in the toner grays  (T family).   I only have three, so I had to do LOTS of blending!    Birgitta has been popped up on a Spellbinders Nestabilities Large Deckled Mega Rectangle die cut.  All the DP is from the Imaginisce To Love & Cherish collection.   I added some rhinestone stickers in a gray tone again, and that’s about it!

Hope you can join us for this great sketch challenge.  Be sure to stop over at the All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge blog to take a peek at the always amazing projects for the Design Team.

Thanks for stopping by today!

All That Scraps Challenge ~ Paper Cone

Happy Wednesday!    And, happy new challenge at All That Scraps!!    Our challenge this week is one that I was a little apprehensive of when I first heard of it ~ Paper Cones.   I had never made one before and hadn’t seen any others.   But, once I started working on mine, I really enjoyed it!    Who would have thought!    lol   You can find an awesome tutorial at Splitcoast on making these HERE.

The paper I used is from My Mind’s Eye – Quite Contrary Mary, Mary “Happy Birthday”!      (catchy name!)    The gorgeous fairy is from the Sweet November collection ~ she’s called Coriander, and I just love her.   I used a digi image and shrunk her quite a bit to match the size of the paper cone and computer generated sentiment.

I really think you should give this technique a try!   The end result will surprise you – it would be an awesome holder for lots of little gift ideas!    And, be sure to stop over at the All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge blog to see all the other Paper Cones from the amazingly talented Design Team.

I’m glad you could stop by today ~ Thank you FAIRY much!    🙂

All That Scraps Challenge ~ Stitchin’ and . . .

Yay!    I’m back for some human contact!   Sorry for the lack of posts recently ~ We’ve been working on the next Magnolia Ink magazine and I’ve been a little overwhelmed with projects for it.   But, I definitely had to take a break for my favorite – All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge.   This week our challenge is Stitching!    Definitely not my favorite task.    I’ve given up trying to sew straight with the machine, so I thought I would try some hand-stitching ~ unfortunately, even that is crooked!!   lol   Oh well, I tried.

This little cutie is Tulip Trevor from the C.C. Designs Sugarplums collection.  I thought he would be perfect for a Mother’s Day card from a little boy . . . or big boy!   I was actually happy with how the embroidery stitching on the tulips turned out – no need to be too straight for that!   🙂    I also hand-stitched around the main oval image and the sentiment.   Since I was about out of patience, I did some faux stitching around the card!    I now truly understand the saying “Stitchin’ and Bitchin’“, cuz I sure was doing ALOT!!

The dp is from Bo Bunny and the sentiment is from the awesome Gina K Designs stamp set Notes to Mom.   I added two black buttons tied with pink embroidery thread, hoping not to have too much pink on this “boyish” card!

I used the new Spellbinders Nestabilities Labels Ten die (again) for the matting behind the main image.  I really am enjoying using this set!   I also was VERY excited that 7 Kids College Fund now has ALL the new Distress Ink colors in stock!   I used the new Tumbled Glass for highlighting on the background for this one.

Now be sure to pop over to the All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge blog to see all the awesome projects for the soooo-very talented DT!    I hope you will join us for this challenge (and show me some STRAIGHT stitching!)

All That Scraps Challenge ~ Distressing

Happy Wednesday ~ time for my favorite challenge!   This week we were to use Distressing on our cards.   This is always a real challenge for me, but I do have fun trying with my favorite distressing tool!   The so-cute image is a new C.C. Designs Swiss Pixies image called Birgitta on a tree stump.

I pulled out my Basic Grey Indian Summer 6×6 paper pad for this one.  I was sooo happy to find these Prima Cherry Blossom flowers in my stash that seemed to match the colors perfectly!   I added some white candy dots to the corners and a ribbon from my stash.  Birgitta’s boots were painted with Smooch moonlight paint.

You really MUST stop over at the All That Scraps Challenge blog to take a peek at the awesome cards from the Design Team!   I hope you can join us in this challenge.

Thanks for visiting today ~  And, don’t forget tomorrow is the 15th of the month and time for a new Copic Creations Challenge!

All That Scraps Challenge ~ Spring Bling

I just LOVE Wednesdays!   That’s because it’s time for a new All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge!!    This week our challenge is Spring Bling.   Perfect for this time of year – so, no excuses for not joining us!   🙂

For my card, i used Emmy from the C.C. Designs babybuddesigns collection.   She seems just so sweet and innocent, and I just love her curly hair!

I hope there’s enough bling on this card – I think the bright springy colors are awfully “blingy” and  I also added some green glittered brads.  The DP is from the new Basic Grey Kioshi collection, which I love.

The large flower petals behind the main image circle were cut with a Cuttlebug flower die and embossing folder.   I also used the Spellbinders Shapeabilities Ribbon Tags Trio 2 die for the sentiment, which is from the PTI Green Thumb set.   Emmy was colored with Copics, cut out and attached with dimensionals, with a little Stardust Stickles added to her flower and wings.

So, be sure to stop over at the All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge blog to check out all the awesome Spring Bling eye candy from the DT!   And, I hope you will join us in this fun challenge!!

All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge ~ Easel Card

Time for a new challenge at All That Scraps.  Today, it’s one of  my favorite types of cards ~ Easel style.   If you haven’t tried one yet, the instructions which can be adjusted to any size card, can be found here.

The image I used is Swiss Pixies Spring Birgitta from C.C. Designs.   Thought she would be perfect for another Easter card.   She’s been colored with Copics, cut out and attached the card front with dimensionals.

I added some Smooch pearlized paint in moonlight to the flowers in her hair and on her dress.  I love this stuff for the small areas on an item that has been colored with Copics – it definitely covers over your Copic colors that aren’t supposed to be there!     Sometimes it’s hard NOT to get Copics on these areas, like the flowers in her hair, when you’re doing various shading.  So Smooch paint is my friend!   🙂

I also used a paper doily that I threaded a thin ribbon through.  I added some white Fun Flock to the bunny to make it look soft and furry and a small white puff for the tail.

Here’s a quick side view of the Easel card style . . .

The dp is from the brand new Basic Grey 6×6 paper pad collection called Green at Heart.  I also used the Martha Stewart Spring Grass punch, which was also cut and embossed with my Spellbinders Nestabilities Circle die.   The sentiment, from Verses Rubber Stamps, was also cut out and embossed using a Spellbinders Nestabilities Scalloped Square die.  I added some white daisies from my stash and some self-adhesive pearls which were colored to match using Copics.

I hope you can stop over at the All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge blog  to take a peek at all the awesome Easel cards from the always amazing Design Team.    And, I hope you will join us in this challenge ~ it’s really a fun technique!

Thanks for visiting ~ I hope you can stop back later this evening for a St. Paddy’s Day card I’ve made for the Waltzing Mouse Blog Hop.   A VERY Happy St. Paddy’s Day to everyone!

All That Scraps Wednesday Challenge ~ St. Patrick’s Day

Happy Wednesday!   We have a new challenge today for All That Scraps ~ St. Patrick’s Day.

So, you may be thinking …   hmmmm, what would this cute couple have to do with St. Patrick’s Day??    Well, while I was at my LSS, I found some awesome Clear Cuts – frames, with foil accents from Little Yellow Bicycle, called Lucky Me!    The frames were all accented in various greens and a couple with shamrocks …  sooo, I thought this one would work really well as a CONGRATULATIONS card using this brand new image from C.C. Designs ~ Sugarplums Spring Couple.

Since BOTH of my daughters are PREGNANT, I think I better make another!  (Jessica is due in July and Jennifer in September!!!   Phew.)

BTW, I added the “Mom to be” words to her shirt!   I do think Trevor looks quite “dapper” in his St. Patrick’s Day outfit.  LOL   Both Trevor’s tie and Emma’s skirt were paper pieced using the dp I used for the matting from Little Yellow Bicycle Lucky Me Plaid.  The green dp used under the frame is from the same collection – Lucky Me Green Blocks.

The only embellishments needed were the green self-adhesive Candy Dots from Pebbles, Inc.   The Spellbinders die used is the Large Labels set.   The Spring Couple image was colored with Copics, cut out and attached with dimensionals.

I hope you can join us in this challenge!   There is a $15.00 Gift Certificate to All That Scraps for the lucky winner!  All the details and St. Patty’s Day creations from the awesome ATS Design Team can be found HERE.

On a side note, there was a mix-up and 7 Kids College Fund will be receiving (VERY SOON)  a shipment of the ADORABLE new Magnolia Pirate/Wedding/Fairy stamps!   They are up for preorder right now …  better get em before they’re gone!!!

You can see one of the new images, Bride Tilda, that I have made to be a PRINCESS Tilda on my Magnolias blog.

Thanks for stopping by!
